Joyful July

Wow! I can't believe it is almost the end of August and I am finally updating the month of July! August has been crazy! This should be a short post though, since I covered most of the fun stuff we did in July already (like the Fourth of July, our fun in the park, and visiting the Dinosaur Museum). Mostly I like to use the monthly update as a way to talk about Alexander's growth. Since I have so much to cover for the month of August still, I think we will just make this a post primarily about his growth in July.

Alexander seemed to learn so much in July! I feel like there are tons of new things he can do now! He started dancing to music while sitting, and then learned how to dance to music while standing. Maybe it is the fact that Scott and I both love to dance, but he really is a dancer! He dances all the time and loves it most when we all dance together. The other day, when we were at Barnes and Noble, Scott took me by the hand and started dancing with me. He had Alexander in one arm, and me by his other hand. Well, every time Scott would make himself and Alexander spin, Alexander laughed. He thought it was the best thing ever! I have to say he has one of the cutest laughs I have ever heard and it really brings me so much joy to hear it.

Alexander has also really been exploring his voice lately. He has learned to click his tongue, say "Dada" and makes the "ssss" and "thh" sounds. He started making the "ssss" sound when Mommy was teaching him the sound a snake makes. It was really cute and is now one of his favorite sounds to make.

He has also been really into touch lately. He loves to touch bushes and flowers when we go on walks. He also gives high fives. He is still a cudly baby when he wants to be and I just love that! He has been giving me more and more hugs these days. He also is becoming a little boy. It seems that every day he gets a little more tough and rough with me. He just loves to hit and kick, and that boy is strong!

His motor skills are improving too! He learned how to crawl down the stairs (though we are still working on getting him to focus on going down instead of up when we want him to). He crawls in the bathtub now and loves to splash in the pool. He has even started brushing his hair with his hairbrush (we always brush his hair after bath time and let him play with the brush, now he brushes his hair when playing with the brush)! He also mastered walking in July. On July 21st, he walked the entire length of the hallway and that is when we knew we had a walker :)

He is also becoming much more attentive. He seems to copy everything we do these days. One day we noticed that he started pretending to yawn really big, after he saw Mommy yawn. And one day Scott was blowing on his food, and Alexander started blowing too!

Well, that was a lot of milestones! Below are some more fun pictures of the month of July:

(He loves making this silly strong face)

(His favorite food is now spaghetti)

(This picture, and the one below are of Alexander playing
with his new girlfriend, Makayla. He has so much fun with
her and gets excited every time he sees her. Luckily, she
gets excited to see him too)!

Well, that is all for now. Tune in next time for Alexander's first birthday!
