Looking Back: Christmas 2011

Wow! I can't believe how much time I have covered in only a month! So much has happened since our little family started. Well, needless to say we were more excited about last Christmas than any thus far. We were so excited for Alexander's first Christmas. We had fun picking out toys for him and celebrating the holidays with him.

The first thing we did to celebrate Christmas was to decorate the Christmas tree and attend a Ward Christmas Party. We have this tradition that we stole from my aunt and uncle where each year of our marriage we buy a Christmas ornament. This year we got to buy one for us, and one for Alexander too. It was fun decorating the tree and being able to celebrate the new addition to our family. We also found this cute Santa outfit for Alexander and dressed him up like Santa for the Ward Christmas Party. He was a hit at the party and everyone loved his cute outfit. Here are some pictures:

Of course we HAD to take Alexander to see Santa. He wasn't super smiley for Santa but at least he didn't cry! Here is a picture of the two of them together:

Since Scott's birthday is in December, I thought I'd add his birthday party as part of this post. Scott loves playing a card game called Magic. So for his birthday, I thought it would be fun to throw him a Magic Birthday Party. We reserved a room at the local game store where he usually plays, and he invited some of his friends to be part of a draft (playing the game where you randomly get cards). Anyway, it was a big hit! And I even made cupcakes that were the color of the cards he plays with. Later in the week, we also had his family over to celebrate and I made him an apple pie. I also thought it would be fun to decorate Scott's car to tell the world it was his birthday and that he was getting old! Here are some pictures of his birthday fun:

Next I thought you might enjoy a few winter pictures of Alexander before we get into all the rest of the Christmas fun. Here they are:

Alexander absolutely loved playing under the Christmas tree! We hung a bell on a low branch and he would play with it for what seemed like hours on ends. It was great for when I needed to wrap presents. One day though, I set him under the tree to play with the bell and he discovered a Christmas present. When I looked up, he had pulled a bow off the present and was chewing on it. Luckily it ended up being from his very first present under the tree. I guess like most kids, he just couldn't wait to open his present. Here is a few pictures from that event:

We spent Christmas Eve with Scott Grandparents, Jim and Janine Thorne. Here are a few pictures of Christmas Eve:

You will notice that the next picture is a bit silly. Just a side note about it: Alexander had lost almost all of his thick brown newborn hair by Christmas Eve and we decided to give him a toupee!

One morning near Christmas, Scott ran out to run a few errands and surprised me with yummy donuts! They were so cute that I just had to take a picture! Here they are:

Okay! Now we have finally made it to Christmas!!! Christmas fell on a Sunday, so Sunday morning, we opened our stockings, went to church and then went over to Scott's parents' house. No one really felt like making a ham for Christmas Dinner, and Scott and Virginia decided it had been far too long since they enjoyed ham at Christmas. So, Virginia volunteered to make her very first ham! It turned out pretty yummy and she was excited for the opportunity to learn. We had fun opening gifts and just being with the family. Here are a few pictures from Christmas:

Okay, before we wrap up, I thought I would share our family Christmas pictures with you! Hope you enjoy them as much as we did! Here they are:

Well, that is a long post and about a billion pictures! So we should probably call it quits now! We are so close to catching up! Tune in next time for memories of January 2012!!!
