Looking Back: The Wedding: Part 4: The Utah Reception

After the sealing and luncheon, we hopped in the car and made the long drive back to Orem for our reception. The reception was in a beautiful old home that had been turned into a reception center. It was called White Willow. Scott and I took some time to freshen up and then took a few pictures in the reception center. Here's a few photos of us getting ready:

The reception center really was beautiful. We had bridal and engagement pictures lining the entry, as well as a DVD slideshow of us playing. It was really cute! Here are some pictures of what the place looked like:

Before everyone got there, we took some fun pictures with the bridesmaids and groomsmen. One of the reasons Scott and Virginia got the kinds of gifts they did for their groomsmen and bridesmaids, was for the picture taken below. They had the idea and couldn't pass it up. There are also some other fun ones below for you to enjoy:

Then we did the traditional "line" where everyone in the wedding party stands and greets the guests. I have to say that I was highly opposed to the line because I wanted to dance the night away with Scott, but I finally compromised to a period of time for the line, and a period of time for dancing. So we did the line for an hour or so, and then went in to cut the cake and dance.

The cake was something Scott was really excited about. He had kind of designed how he wanted it to look. Although it didn't turn out quite like he expected, it was still nice. The funny thing about the cake was the cake topper. When Scott and Virginia met, they had their first date and then the next day Virginia headed to Florida for a week with her Mom. While there, they visited Disney World and Scott and Virginia texted the whole time. As they were texting, Scott could tell how much Virginia loved the princess stuff and said, "Virginia, you are such a princess that when you get married you should have a Cinderella and Prince Charming cake topper." Right after she got that text from Scott, she spotted a Cinderella and Prince Charming cake topper. The whole wedding cake was built around that theme :)

The one glitch of the day was that right before the cake was cut, the people running the reception said they didn't have the music for the first dance. Virginia started to freak out, as the cake was supposed to be cut. Then they found the cd that had been made, and it wasn't working. So finally they got Scott's ipod and settled with that. Below is a picture of the moment when Virginia was freaking out. I guess every bride gets a little worried sometimes!

Anyway, after the moment of stress, they cut the cake. It was fun feeding each other and sharing their wedding cake. It had been such a busy day, they had barely had any food. So it was nice to eat something!

After the cutting of the cake, they threw the bouquet and bootineer. Virginia was given a great idea to loosely tie all the flowers so that when she threw them, more than one person would get a flower. It was a big hit!

After the tossing of the flowers, they danced to their first song together "When You Say Nothing At All." Scott was such a great dancer that he taught Virginia some moves. Everyone seemed to love their dancing. And they danced like no one else was in the room. Here are some pictures of the first dance:

Then they did the Father/Daughter dance in which Uncle Ed danced with Virginia, and Scott's Mom danced with Scott. Then Virginia danced with Scott's Dad, and Scott danced with Virginia's Mom. Then everyone was invited to dance. Here are some pictures:

There was lots more dancing, and then a grand exit, as Scott and Virginia left. The reception center gave all the guests sparklers and Virginia and Scott, got to run through them. It truly was a perfect wedding day!
